Re: My Place

@TAB @greenpea @PeppyPatti @Shaz51 @Jynx @AD_SANE_LEM

Good morning friends,

Just woke up quickly to go to loo. Thought I would check what’s happening in forumland. I may not be around much today as I am going on trip. May have a bit of time this arvo though. See how I go. Thanks for sharing last night. The convo helped me make big decisions about trying therapy again…

Re: My Place

@Oaktree aww wow you work quick, already securing some journalling material!! Proud of ya, mad kudos, and I hope you end up finding it a helpful process! 😊

PS I always find it tough to get into the flow of journalling, especially if there's been a bit of time since I last practiced it. And getting started the first (and second, and third...) time was even harder!! I think it's because all our lives, everything we write is to be handed to someone else; homework, paperwork, letters, forms, etc. And so without even being too aware of it, it almost feels like everything we write, even my private journal, is for someone else. All that training in school and uni to ensure my grammar is correct, it makes sense, it's palatable... it's hard to break those habits! Journalling for me has become a very raw process, but only once I got used to the fact that it's supposed to be rough and full of mistakes. More like a stream of consciousness than anything with structure or meaning. My mum told me, "Just start writing. Even if all you're writing is 'I don't know what to write, this feels stupid', write it - because it will still kick start the process."

Anyway, rant over!

I also wanted to say that it's really incredible that the convo last night has ignited such inspiration in you! I can imagine it's still a pretty daunting prospect but I hope this next leg of your journey is exactly what it needs to be 😊💜

Re: My Place

@Jynx , I can start things like writing but I tend to fail to keep going with it

Like doing my daily diabetes sugar check

Re: My Place

Thanks for your advice re journalling @Jynx

I am going to start this afternoon. I am just checking into a hotel now and will have some spare time. I made a list last night of all the things that I want to address with a therapist. I will just need to get in contact with my NDIS LAC and get a list of psychologists that specialise in childhood trauma

Way to go my @Oaktree 🥰😍

Re: My Place

@Shaz51 it is totally hard to build and maintain new habits!! I'm not in the habit of journalling anymore, I used to be, but nowadays it's more like an as-needed self-care strategy for me.

Do you set alarms much? I've found it absolutely essential to staying on top of stuff, like I have reminders for my meds, for taking out the rubbish on the correct evening, even sometimes to remind me to drink water 😅 Maybe that could help ensure you're remembering to check your bloods and stuff like that?

Re: My Place

Nice one @Oaktree hope you don't end up having too long to wait, and you find a good match for you, someone who helps you feel held, safe, you know all the important stuff 😉

Re: My Place

Good afternoon @greenpea

I submitted the epilogue of Mr Rockers book to a writing competition however it was rejected.

I think I might need to see an editor - is this the right thing to do ??

Good afternoon @greenpea

Snooze time.

Caring look at you .....

@Jynx

Yes I think that’s one of the most important things! Finding someone that’s compatible, that I can trust and who will hold a safe place for me
