Re: The magic of tidying

Oh dear. I've lost track of time again.

Have achieved minimum housework goal less than half the time this month so far.

Re: The magic of tidying

Working at getting back on track. Achieved minimum quota over weekend. I'll keep persevering.  Big effort needed.

Re: The magic of tidying

I'm back at square 1 re decluttering.

Re: The magic of tidying

@Dimity hey dimity, life is hard.

Re: The magic of tidying

So this week I did some decluttering. Now that I've started I hope to continue.

Re: The magic of tidying

I'm hankering for a healthy dose of decluttering... once I have current worries better under control. I guess that's either procrastinating or pacing myself.

Another option is doing a little each day, like I used to

Re: The magic of tidying

Hi @Dimity

You should see my kitchen table. I just keep making piles.

All my Tafe stuff seems to end up on it. I need to decide what I need to keep and what I can throw away.

Re: The magic of tidying

There's plenty of time for that @Oaktree . Give yourself a pat on the back for being nearly finished.

I still have old notes from studying but am gradually getting rid of them. They're "aspirational clutter" now, it's not realistic to think I'll use them again.

Re: The magic of tidying

The SIMPLE technique

S — Sort like with like: Group similar items together to see what’s taking up the most space (and whether it deserves to).

I — Identify what to keep: Once everything’s laid out, decluttering happens naturally — you’ll spot duplicates, broken bits and long-forgotten items.

M — Make a home for it: Some things will clearly be in the wrong place. Re-home them where they make the most sense for easy access and practicality.

P — Put it in containers: The simplest way to make a space look instantly tidier and more organised.

L — Label it: A declutterer’s best friend, labels keep things in their place and make your storage look satisfying too.

E — Establish a routine: Build these steps into a rhythm that works for you, so staying organised becomes second nature.
