@ENKELI The cruise was from Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef - Moreton Island, Airlie Beach, Cairns and was meant to be Port Douglas but we had to have an extra night/day in Cairns due to poor weather being experienced in Port Douglas so that port was cancelled at the last minute. My housemate and I have got a trip planned in May next year to Cairns and Port Douglas so we get to experience Port Douglas for ourselves. We’ll be flying from Melbourne to Cairns and be up there for about 10 days, staying a few days in Port Douglas to explore it. She did this once it was announced on the cruise ship that Port Douglas had been cancelled. It’s a bit of an expensive holiday in regards to hotel accommodation but at least we can save up for it and pay when we arrive- apparently May is quite popular up there for some reason. We also want to visit the Daintree Forest at Port Douglas via a group tour and explore the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns so that’s something to look forward to. Hopefully Qantas has a special on airfares soon to help us save some money on flights!
As for the housing situation, the hot water system is going but the silly landlord keeps on getting a plumber out to try and repair the ignition switch instead of just replacing it and saving money. The landlord is still upset they didn’t get us evicted on 23/6 and I think this is their way of trying to annoy us. They can keep it up but it’ll only end in another trip to VCAT to explain themselves which they’ll lose as hot water is an essential service so they could end up a lot worse of if it gets that far, such as potential loss of rent to them until they get it properly fixed which they definitely won’t like! As for other stuff, the lease isn’t getting renewed in December so we’ll start looking for a place after our Echuca holiday next month and go from there. The property manager is still causing trouble so we may have to once again get creative as to where we’ve been living and who to list as a reference or 2. Things will improve eventually! My housemate also in the list for priority public housing with her mother ringing up the department every so often to remind them of her situation with me going on her applications as it’s easier to get a 2 bed property instead of a 1 bed with the department of housing here in Victoria. Worst case is I have to potentially move back in with my sister and experience psychological and emotional abuse for a period of time as I’ll be homeless otherwise. People are aware of this and I’ll be contacting the relevant organisations to see what can be done regarding this potential situation with my sister and me getting suitable safe housing. Something good is going to happen - I just have to think positive and believe this!
Today my plans are to try and finish a kids jumper and to work on some cross stitching that I’ve been doing for the past month or so. I’m also going to watch the NRL on TV tonight to see the Eels vs Rabbitohs match. I might even do some pleasure reading as well of several novels I’ve got on the go via ebooks from the library.
