Hello,
I don't know if I am doing this right, sending a message like this.
I have never done anything like this before.I don't even know why I am nervious.
I was diagnosed with BPD twenty years ago.
I feel like it's only the last few years that I feel normal, well almost.
I also have anxiety disorder but over the years with counciling that is hardly a problem anymore.
At the start of the BPD they had me on all sorts of drugs and high doses.
My hair started to fall out and I lost all my beautiful teeth.
My partner of 13 years walked out and I spent three months in a unit.
That's when they started me on medication [edited by moderator] and a very good antidepressant.
The medication [edited by moderator] stabilisers the mood swings and I felt like I regained mt life.
I went back to my photography, did 3 years at Uni. and back to my interests.
But like most BPD sufferers it's like a rollercoaster.
So right now I am living with my son who has an undiagnosed mental health condition,
and is an alcoholic and most times is unbalanced. I feel like I am going backwards.
I have tried to carefully help him but to no avail.
There have been some explosive confrontations.
I am very open to hear stories of others and advice to.
Many thanks.

Hi @Boomer ,
Welcome to the forums. Thank you for taking the time to share @Boomer . It sure sounds like you've been through a fair bit to get yourself to where you are now.
Just to clarify, when you posted about BPD, do you mean bipolar or borderline personality disorder? Only because the medication you are describing is not normally prescribed for borderline personality disorder itself.
Besides that, I'm sorry to hear about your son. I can see you are doing your best to help him. Do you feel he is safe?
Also, a quick note, moderators have had to edit out the medication name so that your post aligns with Community Guidelines around not naming medication. You can read these guidelines here: https://saneforums.org/t5/help/faqpage/title/community-guidelines
Please know you are not alone. There are many carers out there who can provide insight into how they have supported their loved ones.
@Shaz51 , anyone you can tag?

Hi @Boomer I recently had to live with my son for 4 months on and off while he was in psychosis. He's in his thirty's. I found I had to detach from him in a mother's way. Walking around on eggshells, not knowing what is coming next, the atmosphere that you can cut with a **** is really hard to live with. How explosive are the confrontations? Are you safe? Now that the voices have calmed down, my son started drinking again. It's always alcohol or drugs! I found that he didn't want my opinion or help. It's hard to pick the right moment to say something. It sounds like you've done some work on yourself. Good on you! What type of things do you like to photograph? 🙃

Thankyou for the add x I'm very well thanks and although the grand final was a let down I have been doing more walking. I struggle through winter to leave my bed and house as I hate the cold but now spring has come and the weather is somewhat better i have been able to walk much more in the forest nearby with my dogs and partner xox
