Hey guys,
Nice to see you all here.
I live by the ocean too but I am afraid that I take it for granted and rarely go down there.
I will probably regret that someday if I move away from here.
I prefer forests though to the ocean. We do have a national park about 30 mins drive from here. I bought a national parks pass but only went once. I had visions of my husband and I taking walks there. Hubby is too lazy to be bothered.
What are your favourite pass times?
I have a rescue cat. We got her almost 2 years ago from the RSPCA. She has had some health challenges this year and we were told that she would die but she is still going strong. I am hopeful that she has made a miraculous recovery. I am very glad that we have pet insurance.

Hi @tyme I’m putting a heat pad on my back one last time before heading to bed. Hoping to sleep well again. Still hypomanic but had an afternoon nap so not too hypo. Busy this week and next. Still managing to walk every day not far but still. Trust you are well.

Hi @GezzaP
I have Bipolar. When I am a little bit manic I have to try and do the opposite of what I want to do and try to not be so busy. It's easy to get too busy and do too much and want to join a lot of things. When I crash, I find that I don't want to do any of the things I signed up for. What seems like a great idea now can be a problem later. Also if you just try and chill you might not go full on manic.

Hi @Oaktree I like to walk. I have been walking to local shops lately. Beach is off limits because of the algal bloom we’re having here in SA. Will walk to chiropractor on Monday next week. Like to walk even though atm it hurts my back. Doing back and neck exercises and when recovered I will do yoga again. Hoping I can garden tomorrow or Friday between appts. Busy this week and next.
I’m refreshing my Spanish online. I’m about 70 percent fluent. The course is good. I like to read fiction and gardening magazines. I’m very political. I was an academic with a specialization in poor countries especially Latin America. I’m retired now - I took a redundancy package. I’m on a small super pension.

Yes I understand. @Oaktree I have bipolar I. I buy things when I’m manic have to be really careful and self aware. What type of bipolar do you have?
i’ve got s heat pack on my back because when I don’t sleep my back complains. Will be going to bed shortly. On extra meds for a couple of nights to make me sleep more. Busy with appts this week and next.

We have things in common.
I have been doing Spanish on Duolingo for 3 years but I am nowhere near being fluent.
I do well with written Spanish but struggle with spoken Spanish. It is just so fast that it is difficult to comprehend. I would like to visit Spain someday. I don't know what I would eat there because I hate rice and seafood lol. Being an academic is so interesting. My brother in law is a professor in Tasmania but he is into microscopic water organisms so that is a bit boring.
I have Bipolar 1

@Oaktree It takes years to learn spoken Spanish. You need to persist. I have been to Latin America about 15 times so plenty of practice. I also have a couple of other former academics who taught Spanish that I can practice speaking with. I had my first dream un Spanish last week I was thrilled. Oh you have bipolar I too sucks when you have an episode doesn’t it? Mine is quite well managed most of the time.
I’m off to bed now. Talk to you another time.

Yes episodes suck a lot. Takes me months to get over a hospitalisation. Luckily for me I have been mostly well for 4 years.
I don't have anyone to practice my Spanish with. A dream in Spanish - how exciting.
It has been lovely meeting you. Goodnight for now.

I have only been in hospital twice and not for years now. Had ECT once when I had my first episode. Had psychosis too that time. Getting into bed now. Hablamos otra vez si quieres. Puedes practicar tu espanol conmigo si te gustaria. Buenas noches. Hasta luego.
