@Dreamy swept away dory and apple pie

Re: Tabaluga's

I really enjoyed that, thanks @greenpea. That's a great comic sketch. You can really go to town on Rachmaninoff, because like Tchaikovsky, he liked writing flourishing music, particularly with his piano concertos, with his symphonies he wasn't so confident, or at least he started out not being confident of them.

Re: Tabaluga's

@Gibbs oohh nice.

Re: Tabaluga's

@Abner  imagine someone like Rachmaninoff and not being confident about his obvious gift!  im glad you enjoined the MM skit she was another soul who was not confident about her talents.

Re: Tabaluga's

@TAB hey tabby, feel so much better now cousin is gone. Nice and peaceful at home. Hope you're okay

Re: Tabaluga's

Exactly @greenpea  a lot of great artists aren't confident of their ability, and of those who appear confident it's often a type of bluff.

In music we're taught if you make a mistake while playing don't say sorry, or go back over it, just keep going, your audience is there to have a lovely time, not a note perfect time.  So we get used to making mistakes and not saying sorry.

Unfortunately some people then carry that into life when they hurt others, even deliberately, and most of them aren't musicians or performing artists, they just don't like examining themselves.

In music the principle is it must be a beautiful experience, not a perfect one.  Whatever music you like, if it gives you a wonderful and meaningful experience it's great music, whether it's "The Wheels on the Bus" or Vaughan-Williams' "Scream from the Apocalypse".

that's Life , hey @Meowmy  re cousin. was having nap here

Re: Tabaluga's

I had marvelous, hilarious experience once with a Marty Feldman comic sketch called "Opera without Music".  It absolutely took the mickey out of opera ferociously, it was wonderful!  It's probably online, a lot of Feldman's sketches are, just look up Marty Feldman Opera without Music, and the two Ronnies used to send up classical music shamelessly, and there's that very famous Spike Milligan sketch about virtuoso pianists...and they're all done with very famous miusic and opera.  Have a look at them @greenpea.

Re: Tabaluga's

@TAB hey tabby, its slowly getting dark here. Slowly settling into the night. Cousin  was very nosy and loud. Sick of it very quickly. It dragged on for so long ha. Had some quick dinner already. Hope you're okay
