Hi 👋 I'm looking for some advice on recovering from psychosis. I'm about 9 months out from a series of serious episodes where I thought I was the second coming of Jesus and that my partner and family were abusive in every way someone could be.
I've lost my partner, my home, most of my friends and my career.
How do I come back from this? How do I make new friends who understand? How could I ever date again?

1/4 of schizophrenics will have 1-2 hospitalisations; and then primarily recover and make their way in the community; another 1/4 of us will perpetually struggle with repeated hospitalisations over decades, with 1/2 of us in the middle. For some idea of what you can do under your own steam, you may like to explore Grow. Aside from that, a family high in what's called; 'expressed emotion.', and living on your own are predictors of poor prognosis. Going out on a limb from my own understanding, you might try telling yourself that these experiences come from you, and once you are set up with a GP mental health care plan, the aim of CBT should be improved psychosocial functioning, it is much poorer at addressing symptoms, but that is what the medication is for.

Hi @Team19tacos I have had psychosis for 15 years and have been through all stages I found if I met new friends I wouldn’t tell them about my condition as they would treat me differently or just want nothing to do with me so I don’t tell most people about my experiences only a person who has had psychosis can understand and most psychosis people don’t like to talk about there journey they just reply in short comments leaving you guessing what they meant if your up to it would love to chat as it is rare to meet another psychosis survivor

Grow is a 12-step program for mental health, it'll show up straight away in a search engine with the search-term; 'Grow.'. I have schizophrenia with autistic features, depression and a history of anxiety. My suggestion is based on the cognitive approach to the aetiology of schizophrenia found in abnormal psychology.

It was provided in little flyers and booklets when I was 1st diagnosed, my 1/4 century anniversary of which is coming up next month, (I am now 39.), things might have changed...

Thank you for sharing @njsm11 .
I've always wanted to learn more because I feel there is so much unknown out there.
I can see how important it is to continually connect with each other and share stories of hope and recovery so people feel less alone.
