Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Yes, I am in Melbourne @Riseandshine888 so I'm trying to make myself go out in the sun whenever it's out at the moment!

Hello @Sazza it's great to meet you

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi! I am Ianto [edited by moderator]. I am new to this site. I am not sure how to best use it, yet it looks like it could be a useful tool! I am a mature male, who mostly is rational/“normal”. Having written that, i might share that, I’m not sure that I’ve ever met anyone who is “normal”! I have a history of working in a helping profession. I am retired now. I have learnt that when i (and maybe we) convince myself that i choices, or options in my life, then i feel freer, more open. Sometimes I (and maybe we) benefit from assistance to actually realise those choices/options are real and available!

Hello @Ianto it's great to meet you! It sounds like you've got a lot of wisdom to share here on the forums.

Navigating a new platform can be a bit tricky at first can't it? I'll leave a link here to some helpful tips to navigating the forums: How To - SANE Forums and please feel free to ask any other questions you may be having here, we're always happy to help!

I did also just quickly want to let you know that we've made a slight edit to your post to remove your name. The forums is an anonymous space which is why we use usernames. Don't sweat it though, it's an easy mistake to make especially when first using the forums. If you want to learn more about why we stay anonymous here, and check out our other community guidelines you can read them all here.

hey @Ianto lovely to meet you!! i've definitely given up on being "normal", i'm working on owning awkwardness now haha. love what you shared - i do agree, sometimes i feel like i'm so overwhelmed that i forget that there's more choices to make things lighter.

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

@Junie yay for sure!! hope you're weekend goes well, and maybe you get some time to do something nice for yourself too 😊

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

@Ianto @rav3n

I have spent a lot of years trying to be normal but I am still not really sure what that even is? I guess I want to live my life free of the constraints of my mental illness as much as possible. I guess normal looks different for everyone.

Welcome to the forums @Ianto

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

hi! Thanks for your response! I think you are spot on with embracing who you are! The “awkwardness” i think is more about other people not really bein able to appreciate or understand, you or your actions. I think if we approach any interaction with respect, there is little that we can get wrong!
