I'm new here - what is Topic Tuesday?
Topic Tuesday runs from 7pm - 9pm AEST monthly. Each month we focus on a different topic, with the session facilitated by a Community Manager or Moderator. Sometimes Topic Tuesday will feature a special guest, who is an expert in the topic.
The first post of the thread (this one) will give you an idea of what the topic is and what will be covered.
How do I get involved?
Topic Tuesday takes place right here! It's text based, so no software is needed. During the session, to keep up with the latest posts hit the 'refresh' button on your browser for the latest posts (it doesn't automatically update). Keep an eye for page numbers at the top & bottom of the page, and jump to the highest page number for the most recent post.
Throughout the session, the facilitator will put questions out for you to answer, usually asking for your own experience on the topic. To contribute to the session, just hit the 'reply' button and share your thoughts. No answers are right or wrong and everyone is welcome to get involved.
What time does this event start in my timezone?

Re: Topic Tuesday // Are you feeling alone? Carers Support and Discussion // Tues 25 Feb, 7pm AEDT
Hey crew! Welcome to tonight's Topic Tuesday on dealing with loneliness and social isolation as carers. Before we kick off, an extra special welcome to those members who wanted a reminder of tonight's event @Sophia1 @S1304 @Laeticia63 @Determined @Shaz51 👋👋👋
It’s a no brainer that being a carer can sometimes feel very emotionally isolating. Sometimes we have a bit to navigate through in supporting those with complex mental health issues, at times it feels as though time itself does not allow for extra curricular events, hobbies or meet ups.
Tonight we will be focusing on strategies and discussions around how to empower ourselves again, caring for ourselves and fulfilling our own desires whilst also supporting our loved ones ❤️
I am going to allow a few minutes for people to settle in and say hello - then we shall kick off with question 1!

Alrighty crew, kicking off with question one 🙂
@Shaz51 @ontheborder @Former-Member And anyone reading along -
Focusing first on connection. What are some ways you stay connected with others about your role as a carer? For some it may be confiding in a friend, attending support groups (or even our forums!). What provides you comfort in reaching out for support? 💜
